Abstract:

There are several reasons which have caused interest in investigation of the area of radiowave propagation in the earths crust. For the first time such investigations have come to be concerned with the needs of geophysical exploration. Subsequently, the problem of the propagation of electromagnetic energy in the earths crust drew attention in connection with the solution of certain problems of electrodynamics and the techniques of the detection of electrical signals in the earthground. Finally, one of the reasons is the need for the selection of the routes of radio communication, reliably shielded from interference propagation of the electromagnetic energy through the deep weakly conductive layers, covered with the high-conductivity rockspecies.
