Abstract:
The polyhedral expansion of 3.1.2-C5H5FeC2B9H11 produced three new electron-deficient biferracarboranes C5H5Fe2C2B9H11, C5H5Fe2C2B8H9OH and C5H5FeC2B9H11FeC2B9H11-. All three complexes contained formal FeIII atoms and were diamagnetic. The proposed structures, based on spectroscopic and crystallographic data, contain non-bonded iron atoms. These complexes constitute the first examples of long-range electron-spin coupling through a carborane polyhedron. Author
