A study was performed to determine if a 3D hydrodynamic code coupled with strength of materials formulation exists which is capable of predicting failure or break-up due to the interaction of a projectile or multiple interactions with a reentry vehicle system. This study investigated ten potential 3D modeling techniques, to determine if an existing three-dimensional hydrodynamic code exists which has the capability of analyzing the BMD hypervelocity impact problem.
