Nickel/Cadmium Aircraft Batteries: Single Sensor Temperature Monitoring.

Pagination or Media Count:
Most of the failures of nickelcadmium batteries in aircraft are triggered by the development of a short circuit in a single cell in the battery. An experiment was conducted to determine whether the use of a single temperature sensor on an intercell link would be adequate to warn of a short circuit in a cell located elsewhere in the battery. The results indicate that this would not be adequate.
