Abstract:
In this appendix, recreation includes all types of outdoor recreation activities dependent upon water resources and associated lands. For purposes of this study, eight water related activities have been adopted. These recreation activities are picnicking, swimming, boating, sailing, water skiing, fishing, camping, and hiking. The overall planning procedure included five fundamental steps 1 an inventory of existing and potential recreation resources 2 an analysis of existing demand for water related recreation and of anticipated demand for the years 1980,2000, and 2020 3 a comparison of existing supply with projected demand to determine future needs 4 an evaluation of water and related lands to assess their capability in satisfying determined needs and 5 the recommendation of necessary short and long-term action programs to fulfill needs and to effect coordinated planning and development between appropriate agencies.
