Given A an n x n matrix with real or complex elements, then expAt is calculated as the unique solution of an initial value problem. In the process of obtaining this solution n-unknown matrices become involved and must be computed. Characterizing properties of these matrices to be computed become known such properties as pairwise-orthogonal, idempotent and nilpotent. Finally some applications of the above calculations are given in the field of solutions to systems of differential equations. Author
