The DYNTACSX model is difficult to use properly. Its size 1.25 to 1.5 megabytes and complexity over 300 subroutines are the main contributors to this situation. A thorough knowledge of the entire program, data base, and the interaction of these two components is required for a professional application of DYNTACSX. One of the most demanding aspects of the operation of DYNTACSX is the preparation of the data base. An improperly prepared data base will impair the creditability of any results produced by the DYNTACSX model. Although the documentation prepared by Ohio State University is generally sufficient for the purpose of determining data requirements, it does not always provide a method for producing the required data. This report includes several computer programs and data preprocessor programs, which are valuable in producing required data. The DYNTACSX data base contains a large amount of subjective inputs. In some cases the subjective inputs are required because an empirical data base is not available e.g., suppression. In other cases the subjective inputs are required to play tactical decision rules and tactics. Experience can be a valuable aid in the preparation of subjective input data. This report is an attempt to codify the experience achieved during the preparation of the HELLFIRE COEA data base. Author
