A Monte Carlo method has been developed to solve the time-dependent heat conduction or diffusion equation. This method is a generalization of the floating sphere method to rectangular parallelepipeds. Greens functions are developed which satisfy the appropriate boundary conditions. Probability distributions based on these Greens functions are determined and random walk techniques are used to estimate a solution. The method is capable of handling various boundary conditions and complex three-dimensinal configurations. Author
