Mechanical Antivibration Filter Design Using Electrical Network Synthesis Techniques.

Two methods are presented by which mechanical low-pass filters can be designed using electrical network synthesis techniques. The desired response can be any low-pass filter function that is realizable as a planar reactive ladder network. The resultant response of the synthesized network will be slightly different from the desired response, but this difference is predictable and can be taken into account when considering the specifications for the design of the filter. These techniques can be used to design either a filter network with a relatively small source mass driven by a constant force or a filter network with a relatively large source mass moving with a constant velocity. The two methods are compared and an example is given to illustrate the implementation of one of the methods. Author
