The U-6 aircraft manufacturer, in an effort to utilize the advantages of the turbine engine, modified a company-owned U-6 Airplane. The modification consisted principally of replacing the R-985 reciprocating engine with a T-74 PT6A-6 engine and lengthening the fuselage. An unsolicited proposal to test this airplane was submitted to the Headquarters, US Army Materiel Command USAMC.
