Abstract:
This report documents and discusses data obtained from field studies of continuously reinforced concrete CRC airfield pavement. It includes a discussion and analysis of deflection measurements, material properties, traffic distribution, climatological data, and the pavements physical condition, as they pertain to the design of CRC pavements and overlays. A comparison is presented between predicted characteristics, developed using the design procedures for CRC pavement, and actual observations made on Runway 4R-22L at OHare International Airport. A summary of the analysis is presented which includes conclusions concerning components of the design procedure and a list of recommendations for future revisions and additions to the procedure. Every attempt was made to summarize and establish the initial behavior and performance data of Runway 4R-22L, so that it can be used in future performance studies of CRC airfield pavements.
