Abstract:
Conditioned male mongrel dogs were splenectomized and used to model paralytic decompression sickness. Physiologic monitoring, hemalotogic studies, blood volume studies, cinevenography and pathologic analysis have combined to indicate a major role of venous obstruction at the level of the epidural vertebral venous system in the pathogenesis of spinal cord damage in decompression sickness.
