The significance of the assumption of constant noise correlation as it applies to the analysis of real systems is examined. In particular, the effect of correlated noise on the performance of a linear array receiver system, as it was discussed in H. E. Ellingsons report NOLTR-65-134, is commented upon. The general question of detection in a correlated noise background is studied, and it is concluded that the detection probability is increased if the noise is correlated.
