Abstract:

This preliminary report presents the results of running full matrix benchmarks on the CDC STAR 100, the Cray Research Cray-1, the Texas Instruments ASC 1-pipe and 4-pipe, the IBM 370195, and the Amdahl 470V6. An analysis is performed on timing results to correlate measured results with those predicted from manufacturer-supplied data. This benchmark effort is part of a study to measure the effectiveness of vector processors for direct solution of large sparse sets of simultaneous equations, and to develop new algorithms appropriate to classes of computer architecture.
