Abstract:

The Coastal-Graphics System is a user-oriented computer software system which integrates 1 Mathematical models of coastal processes, specifically R.S. Dobsons model of ocean waves refracting near shore and 2 Interactive and graphics display technology. With CGS one can easily and conveniently define interactively various inputs and parameters for a model, run it, and then view its output. One can view the various model outputs in graphical contour plots, interactively change the models input parameters and re-run it, and then display the new results. The user has a small number of high-level English-oriented commands to work with CGS to exercise the wave-refraction model.
