Abstract:

Using a static simulation of a Multi-Mode Matrix display, the effects of imbedding numerical stimuli in black backgrounds, and bordering numerical areas with lighted outlines were investigated. Black holes were found to improve accuracy and response confidence, and to slightly improve speed of response. Borders were found to improve speed of response, but to impair accuracy. Recommendations for future research are made.
