Abstract:

The report uses queueing theory to develop a mathematical model of repair waiting time for a fictitious weapon system. The techniques used to evaluate military standards, high levels of reliability, and commercial standards for cost effectiveness may be applied to any weapon system. A parametric analysis of high levels of reliability costs versus military standards costs is included, as well as a sensitivity analysis of service life and component percentages in the weapon system.
