Abstract:

Despite increasing complexity of electronic circuitry and stringent performance and reliability standards imposed on it, the basic design philosophy has changed little over the years. It is true that design tools, such as computer, have speeded the design process or made it more tractable, but in analyzing or synthesizing a circuit one uses essentially the classic ohmic laws in complex variable plane or their equivalent in the form of a graph theory. Although there are powerful analytical or graphical tools employed in the design process based on the above foundations, such as Laplace transforms, spectral analysis, topological algebra, etc., they all require a detailed knowledge of every element in the circuit and its precise interconnection with adjacent elements of the circuit.
