Abstract:

The Collins Radio ANFRC 162 radio was tested in back-to-back configuration and actual link configuration for determination of transfer parameters and to develop standard test techniques. The radio operates at a baseband rate of 12.5526 Mbs 192 voice channels in a 14 MHz bandwidth in the 8GHz band. BER vs RSL characteristics are displayed as the primary mode of equipment evaluation. Carrier-to-interference data, switching errors, and baseband repeater operation data are presented. Power spectra are displayed showing 99 power bandwidth points and mask for the FCC emission limitations. The BER vs RSL does not deviate greatly from theoretical limits. Spectra emissions would violate 14 MHz digital limitations, if required. Resistance to co-channel interference is better than interference by frequencies adjacent to f which causes poor BER performance at low CI ratios. Results of O switching performance show general conformance to specifications. Baseband repeater operation yields a BER performance 10 dB worse than one-hop operation. Link bit error rate unavailability is quantified graphically. Author
