Assembly and testing of a prototype oil-water-solids separating system is described. The system is designed to process ships bilge water at a rate of 50 gpm and provide water effluent containing less than 15 ppm of oil. The system is composed of two units 1 a skid mounted separator module approximately 5x3x3, and 2 a control console approximately 5x32. Results of system testing indicates that the system is capable of continuously processing 50 gpm of bilge water containing concentrations up to 20 No. 2 fuel oil and discharging water effluent with less than 7 ppm oil. Higher inlet oil concentrations are handled satisfactorily by the automatic recirculation feature of the system.
