The techniques of isothermal calorimetry for H atoms and laser- induced fluorescence for HCl1 were combined to yield absolute rate coefficients for H and D atom removal of HCl1 and DCl1. At T 295 K, the rate coefficients for H HCl1, D HCl1, H DCl1, and D DCl1 are 4. 6 or - 1.4 X 10 to the 12th power, 6.5 or - 2.0 X 10 to the 12th power, 1.15 or - 0.3 X 10 to the 12th power, and 1.2 or - 0.4 X 10 to the 12th power ccmol-sec, respectively.
