The upper and lower bounds on the error probability arising from the degradation of intersymbol interference ISI and additive Gaussian noise in a baseband digital communication system are derived via the isomorphism theorem from the theory of moment space. It is assumed the ISI random variable has a finite distortion and its nth moment is known. It is found that the second moment case gives exactly the result that Matthews achieved and can be generalized to any higher order moments. Bounds are extremely tight for the two channels of interest and expected to be good for all other channels. A numerical example for the fourth moment case is given.
