Development of New Training Concepts and Procedures for Unit Trainers

This report describes the development and testing of a 10-hour course of instruction designed to teach officers and NCOs how to manage and conduct performance-oriented training in their units. The first three hours of the course present the principles and techniques of effective performance-oriented training the remaining lessons present practical exercises, done in small groups. The UTRAIN course has been implemented in the Infantry Officer Basic Course at Fort Benning, Ga., and adapted for NCO, school faculty, and National Guard courses.
