Abstract:

The space-time integral equation approach is extended to the problem of scattering from surfaces with fins attached. The hybrid integral equation solution technique is used in which an H-field integral equation for the surface and an E-field integral equation for the fin are solved simultaneously for the unknown current by marching on in time. Smoothed impulse responses are obtained using this technique for a right circular cylinder with four fins attached at numerous aspect angles. These computed results compare well with measurements taken on the time domain scattering range. The impulse response augmentation technique for obtaining the total impulse response and frequency response over the entire spectrum is extended to rectangular flat plates, right circular cylinders with oblique incidence, and cylinders with fins at axial incidence. Impulse responses are obtained and presented for a square flat plate at a number of incidence angles for both TE and TM polarizations. Results are also presented for a right circular cylinder with a length to diameter ratio of 21 at a number of incidence angles for both TE and TM polarizations. Finally, an estimate of the impulse response of a cylinder with fins attached was obtained for the case of axial incidence. Author
