The location and integrated absorption coefficient of the R-3 line for the v 1 to v 2 vibrational transition in NO has been experimentally measured. The location of the line center was determined to be 2327.20 or - 0.01cm, 0.07cm higher than the previosly calculated value. The line was found to be Doppler broadened, giving an integrated absorption coefficient of 240 or - 100, -75sq cm atm. This value would be consistant with a thermal equilibrium ground state integrated absorption coefficient of 280sq cm atm, one half the value of previous observations and a factor of 3 higher than theoretical predictions. the accuracy in the ground state equilibrum value is or - a factor of 2 due to the uncertainity in relative vibrational populations.
