An investigation of the effect of geometric changes due to a buildup of contamination in the flow passages of a laminar proportional amplifier is described. The geometric changes were accomplished by adding a known amount of material artificial buildup at various locations and by introducing a mixture of oil vapor and dust into the air supply. The results include photographs of the buildup, measured gain curves at various flow conditions, impedance measurements, and some comparisons of the experimental data with an analytical model.
