Abstract:

How does the activity of the Multinational Corporations and the technological exchange they foster affect the strength, the national security of the Nation-states. To answer this question sources such as expert testimony before committees of the U.S. Congress, books on multinational corporations, trade journals, and the authors personal experience as a technologists in such a corporation were reviewed. It is evident the multinational corporation has become one of the principal engines for social internationalization and economic growth. It has been very successful in harnessing the resources of manpower, the earth, technology and capital with a maximum of efficiency and a minimum of waste on a world scale. The nation-states have a continuing responsibility to provide for national and international welfare and security by wise and aggressive regulation of these economic giants to lead their social and political impact. Only by creating a proper balance of economic power and social direction is lasting growth in the quality of life assured for all peoples. Author
