The aim of the work on this contract during the last six months has been to improve the technology of the optical imaging devices so that we can carry out more sophisticated studies of optical transform methods and can made reproducible devices with reasonably uniform characteristics, so we need not spend a large amount of time with difficult problems of mechanical alignment. In addition, we have been concerned to eliminate the trapping problem in zinc oxide, to eliminate sideways diffusion of carriers generated by light, so as to keep a constant modulation transfer factor, and to eliminate problems with surface states in both airgap and ZnO devices.
