Abstract:

This report describes the results of calculations and comparisons with data from Projects ICECAP and EXCEDE. Data from three auroral events, taken by ICECAP rockets A18.205-1, A10.205-2, and A18.219-1, and supplemented by data from ground-based instrumentation, were compared with results from ARCTIC code and other supporting calculations. Conclusions, especially with respect to SWIR radiation enhancement, and the excitation mechanism involved, are drawn.
