This report summarizes the results of a project which was conducted to establish improved manufacturing methods and procedures for the processing of fiber optic blanks plano-plano surfaces and fiber optic faceplates plano convex and plano-concave surfaces. Conventional processes for polishing glass frequently produce scratches, pits, and other defects in fiber optic elements. The fiber optic elements were successfully manufactured using the described processes.
