Abstract:

An experiment was conducted to determine the effectiveness of an automated, adaptive system in training Naval aviators to fly ground controlled approaches GCAs. The training course was comprised of seven different types of GCAs arranged in order of increasing difficulty. The GCA Module GCAM was integrated with a TA-4J Operational Flight Trainer Device 2F90. Comparison of automated and conventional training was made. In general, the hypothesis was comfirmed that training with the automated system would be as effective as conventional instructor training.
