Abstract:
When an atmospheric pressure transverse discharge CO2 laser with forced gas flow is pulsed at a high repetition rate, the minimum time between arc-free discharges is larger than the time predicted by the ratio of discharge width to gas flow velocity. The maximum pulse rate can be predicted by a flow model, the results of which are summarized. The predictions of the model are compared with the experimental results and the design considerations involved in the construction of the gas re-circulation system are presented. Author
