Abstract:
Experimental static-stability and axial-force data are presented for several configurations of a 0.4-scale model of a monorail rocket sled at Mach numbers of 8 and 10. The test Reynolds numbers, based on maximum model length, were approximately 14.4 and 10.7 million, respectively. The models were tested in close proximity to a ground plane assembly which simulated the rail and trough of the Holloman AFB High-Speed Test Track. Results are presented to show the effects of configuration variables such as nose shape vertical, forward, and aft canards rocket booster chamber length and forward and aft slipper wedges.
