Abstract:

A rotorcraft wake analysis for computing flow velocities induced by the rotors and wing of a helicopter is described, and predicted induced velocities are compared with experimental data from many sources. Combined in a single computerized analysis are the capabilities for calculating three components of time-averaged and instantaneous induced velocities on or off the rotors of single-rotor, dual-rotor, and winged helicopter configurations in hovering and forward flight.
