Abstract:
The major objectives of this program have been 1 to select from the pertinent literature advanced experimental methods developed for agricultural, chemical, and biological research, which, if properly applied to human factors engineering research, would significantly improve the quality of the experimental data and 2 to encourage the use of these new methods on appropriate Air Force human factors research programs. The techniques included in this program were selected so that they could be employed immediately to fill a critical gap which currently exists in the proper conduct of applied human factors engineering research for equipment design. Technical reports in this program are reviewed within the context of reports prepared on the preceding program June 1970-June 1973, a sub-contract with the Aviation Research Laboratory, University of Illinois, sponsored by the Air Force Office of Scientific Research. The reports produced on both programs are all part of a cohesive and overlapping series providing both a smorgasbord of new experimental design and a viable philosophy for a practical approach to human factors research, particularly in the areas of equipment design and tracking. A review of the reports from both programs are presented, and the table of contents from all reports are integrated to illustrate the overall pattern of information that has resulted from this effort.
