When the cathodic charging current density is switched from 2mAsq cm to 100 mAsq cm, the permeation current through iron alloy sheet specimens at first rises as expected, but then suddenly decreases. If the current is switched off for approx. 0.5hr, the greatest inhibition of hydrogen entry is observed. The inhibition is only observed when the solution contains chloride ions and cathodic poisons like As 3, Sn4, S2, or I. Author
