Abstract:
An experimental program was conducted in the AEDC-VKF hypervelocity Wind Tunnel F at a nominal Mach number of 19 to determine the static stability and axial-force characteristics of a 0.01-scale model of the NASA Space Shuttle Orbiter. The tests were conducted at an angle of attack of 30 deg at free-stream Reynolds numbers based on model length from 100000 to 400000. The results are compared to previous AEDC data at Mach numbers 8, 10, and 16.
