A field test was conducted to gather data on the performance of each mat under load, and a computer code, TAXI, was used to calculate aircraft response to the mats. AM-2 showed marginally superior load capacity and aircraft response however the operational characteristics of the Class 60 trackway are far superior to those of AM-2.
