The objectives of this project were to determine the number of training task repetitions required for an Undergraduate Pilot Training UPT student to become proficient in each UPT task, and to determine the total number of task repetitions that UPT students receive for each maneuver in T-37 and T-38 training. This report describes the results of two studies. Study I shows the development of data collection procedures which could be used in an operational UPT program and the initial application of these procedures at Williams AFB, Arizona. Study II describes the operational implementation of improved data collection procedures at Craig AFB, Alabama. Computer programs were used to analyze the data to provide the following descriptive statistics for each task in a specified training phase mean, standard deviations, medians, modes, and ranges maximum and minimum values. The results should be useful to the Air Training Command for UPT syllabus development.
