The natural vertebrate hosts of pathogenic arboviruses that infect man in Ethiopia are identified. The methods of study are 1 collection and identification of vertebrate animals species areas where the viruses are endemic, 2 determination of the immunological status of the material, and 3 elucidation of the relative ecological and epidemiological importance of the infected vertebrates. Five study areas have been established representing a diverse cross-section of habitats and geographic regions.
