Abstract:

This report covers measurements and techniques that have led to the development of the first prototype windows coated with a continuous thin-film heater transparent in the 8 to 12 micron spectral region. The effort involved the measurement of the complex optical constants of indium-tin-oxide and the dependence of these values on both process parameters and the conductivity of the films. The performance of a full coated window has a transmission greater than 70, and a sheet resistance of 160 ohmssquare is described. Also included is a thermo-optical analysis of conductive films and patterns for zinc sulfide, zinc selenide, and zinc sulfo-selenide windows.
