Abstract:

The US Army Missile Development Centers efforts in the area of precision pointing and tracking has shown the importance of automatic trackers for precision pointing of armament. One of the most widely used types of automatic trackers is the television contrast automatic tracker. However, many different approaches exist to this one type of tracking, each with distinct advantages and disadvantages. This fact along with the difficulty of testing one tracker against another in the field due to continually varying parameters has shown a need for laboratory equipment to uniformly test television contrast trackers. This report describes the development of an electronic target generator which can be used to obtain uniform test data on television contrast automatic trackers. Author
