Present ion flow experiments differ from previous measurements in three significant respects. These are 1 The use of pairs of electron emissive probes for direct determinations of turbulent electric field magnitudes as compared to the use of a single probe. 2 The examination of ion flow at non-normal incidence to the magnetic field previous experiments utilized transverse magnetic fields. 3 The use of signal averaging techniques for measured densities and potentials for injected density wave motion across field lines thus eliminating impact from turbulent electric fields.
