A low-cost fluidic-electronic time fuze is described. A ram air driven fluidic generator is used to provide the time base, power the electronics, and supply a second signature for the safing and arming system. The electronics employ conventional digital counters thus, the accuracy is dependent upon the constancy of the resonant frequency of the generator diaphragm-cavity pair. The projected low cost, simplicity, accuracy within 1 percent, and applicability of the fluidic-electronic time fuze make it very attractive for use in mass-produced munitions. Variations of the system can be employed in mortars, rockets, or any projectile that requires a time-delay fuze. This report describes the design and functional operation of the system, as well as the areas that require further development and modification. Author
