Abstract:

The report summarizes and integrates a large body of knowledge drawn from theoretical formulations, empirically based research, and field experience to describe a data-based approach to organizational development. Termed survey- guided development, this approach entails several facets including a measurement based on a validated model of organizational functioning, b use of organizational members as change-agents fulfilling a transducer role, c thorough preparation of organizational members prior to the utilization of data, d survey feedback procedures implemented at the work group level, e diagnostically based interventions, and f evaluation of progress and corrective measures as integral aspects of the organizational development effort.
