Pagination or Media Count:
An analysis has been performed of the fraction of negative charge carried by electrons in small, air-filled ionization chambers with parallel-plate, cylindrical and spherical geometries. For chambers whose gap widths are on the order of millimeters, filled to a pressure of about 1 atmosphere, and with applied polarizing voltages of several hundred volts, it is found that nearly all of the collected negative charge carriers are unattached electrons.
