A sample of 1,283 self-admitted, pre-service hallucinogen users was compared with an equivalent sample of airmen who had no known record of drug abuse. The results of this study indicate that it is highly probable that hallucinogen users have used other drugs. There are relationships between hallucinogen use and geographic area of enlistment, aptitude scores, educational level, age at enlistment, and religious preference. Hallucinogen use is also related to the probability of receiving an undesirable discharge, to APR, and promotion rate.
