Abstract:

The authors report high-sensitivity emission profiles from the J 0-1 transitions of 12C16O and 13C16O towards IRC10216. It appears that the spherically symmetric uniform mass-outflow model proposed by Morris 1975 is necessary to describe the line profiles. The outflow appears to be slightly accelerated, having a velocity of 15 kmsec at the edges of the CO cloud, compared with 12 kmsec for the more centrally confined molecules.
