Abstract:
A weak non-thermal continuum radiation is generated by the earths magnetosphere in the frequency range from about 500 Hz to greater than 100 kHz. During magnetically disturbed periods the intensity of this continuum radiation increases significantly, by as much as 20 db during large distrubances. In this paper the authors present a series of observations obtained by the HAWKEYE-1 and IMP-8 spacecrafts during a period of greatly enhanced continuum radiation intensity which occurred from October 14 to October 21, 1974.
