Abstract:
Permanent damage to the cornea is a rare occurrence among wearers of contact lenses. Corneal damage can be prevented when contact lenses are worn less than all of the waking hours and when the patient is examined every six months. Severely distorted corneas can be treated by reducing wearing time gradually and refitting the lenses.
